Cookie policy

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device to remember things like whether you’re signed in or what’s in your bag. This page explains every cookie SOUCI sets, what each one does, and how to turn it off.

Our cookie philosophy

We set the smallest practical number of cookies. Marketing cookies are off by default. We respect your browser’s Do Not Track signal. Nothing we set is shared with advertising networks.

Cookie categories

Every cookie we set falls into one of four categories. The first one is required for the store to work; the other three you can switch on or off independently in Privacy Center.

CategoryDefaultWhat it doesExamples we set
Strictly necessaryAlways onSign-in session, bag contents, CSRF nonce, age-gate confirmation, theme mode (light/dark). Cannot be disabled — the store would not function.wp_session_*, woocommerce_cart_hash, souci-theme, souci_age
PreferencesOnRecently viewed, language, region preference, recently dismissed banners. Off if you disabled “Remember browsing” in Privacy Center.souci_rv, souci_lang
AnalyticsOff until consentAggregated, anonymised page-view counts so we know what’s broken or popular. No profile is built. IP is truncated._ga, _ga_* (only after consent)
MarketingOff until consentCurrently not used. Reserved for a future opt-in newsletter conversion pixel; if we add one we’ll update this page first.

Third-party cookies

The only third party that sets cookies on your device through our checkout is Stripe, our payment processor. Stripe uses these cookies to detect payment fraud — they’re required for the checkout to work. Stripe’s own cookie policy is at stripe.com/privacy.

We do not load Facebook Pixel, Google Ads tags, TikTok Pixel, Meta Pixel, X Pixel, or any other ad-tech tracker on this site. We don’t share visitor data with retargeting networks. If we ever change that, this page will be updated and your existing consents will be reset to “off” until you opt in again.

How to control cookies

Through Privacy Center (recommended)

Sign in and visit Privacy Center to toggle Preferences and Analytics independently. Your choice is remembered for one year, or until you change it. You can re-open the consent banner at any time from the link at the bottom of any page.

Through your browser

Every modern browser lets you block, delete, or restrict cookies on a per-site basis. The links below open the official cookie-management documentation for each major browser:

Note that disabling strictly-necessary cookies through your browser will prevent core features (sign-in, bag, checkout) from working. We can’t override your browser settings — if checkout suddenly fails, that’s the most likely cause.

Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control

If your browser sends a Do Not Track (DNT) header or a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a binding “off” for analytics and marketing cookies, regardless of any consent you may have previously given. The signal is checked on every page load, so if you change your mind in either direction, the next request honours it immediately.

Local storage & similar technologies

In addition to cookies, we use the browser’s localStorage for two non-tracking purposes: remembering your selected theme (light or dark) and caching the structure of the mega-nav so it opens instantly on the next page. Both are first-party only, contain no personal data, and can be cleared at any time from your browser’s site-data panel.

Updates to this policy

We update this page whenever we add, change, or remove a cookie. Material additions (e.g. a new analytics provider) reset prior consents to “off” and re-prompt you on your next visit. The Last updated stamp below is the source of truth.
